Paxton & Whitfield are Member's of Pasture for Life
16 April, 2024
As a purveyor of fine British cheeses, we at Paxton & Whitfield are committed to promoting traditional cheese-making methods and supporting small-scale cheesemakers. That's why we're excited to announce that late last year, we became a member of Pasture for Life, a UK-based non-profit organisation that advocates for sustainable agriculture and supports small-scale producers of artisanal cheese.
At Paxton & Whitfield, we believe that sustainable agriculture is essential to the future of cheese-making. By prioritizing the health of the soil and the welfare of the animals, small-scale farmers and cheesemakers can create high-quality, artisanal cheese that is not only delicious but also environmentally friendly. That's why we are proud to support Pasture for Life's mission to encourage regenerative farming practices and promote sustainable agriculture. Our commitment to sustainable agriculture is reflected in the products we offer our customers.
This can be seen in our recent collaboration with Hollis Mead Dairy to create the cheese Trinity & Trinity with Truffles, a delicious triple cream cheese likened to Brillat Savarin. Hollis Mead Dairy, a small-scale Organic producer based in Dorset, are committed to using sustainable farming methods and traditional cheese-making techniques. By working together, we were able to create a cheese that reflects our shared commitment to quality and sustainability. Each cheese is made using milk from Hollis Mead's pasture-fed cows, who’s milk is enriched nutritionally, ensuring that the cheese is not only delicious but also environmentally friendly.
We carefully source our cheese from small-scale producers who use traditional methods and prioritise sustainability. By doing so, we ensure that our customers receive only the best products while also supporting the wider community of small-scale farmers and cheesemakers.
Joining Pasture for Life is an important step for us at Paxton & Whitfield. It allows us to further support small-scale producers who are committed to sustainable agriculture and traditional cheese-making techniques. By doing so, we are helping to preserve these techniques for future generations and ensuring that high-quality, artisanal cheese remains a staple of the British culinary tradition.
We are thrilled to be a part of Pasture for Life and to support sustainable agriculture and small-scale cheese producers. We believe that by promoting sustainable agriculture, we can create a brighter future for cheese-making and help to protect the environment for generations to come.
