Across Italy you will find regional expressions including Pecorino Romano, Toscano, Sardo and Siciliano, ranging from younger, softer cheeses to intensely savoury wheels matured for many months.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eSheep’s milk cheesemaking has particularly deep roots in Italy. In Tuscany, its history can be traced back to the Etruscans, while Pliny the Elder later wrote of sheep’s milk cheese being made in the region.
