Our Gougères recipe is a no-fuss version; using simple tools and ingredients - perfect for those with a busy lifestyle.
Ingredients
(Makes approx. 15 Gougères)
120ml Water
45g Butter
65g Plain Flour
2 Eggs
100g Comté (Grated)
Salt & Pepper
Method
- Pre-heat oven to 200C and line a large baking tray with baking paper.
- Pour the water into a saucepan, add the butter and heat until the butter is melted and combined with the water.
- Take off the heat and add the flour; mixing vigourously until it combines into a dough.
- Still with the pan off the heat, add the eggs one at a time and continue mixing vigourously until each egg is completely combined into the dough mixture.
- Add 80g of the grated Comté into the mixture and stir together.
- Using 2 dessert spoons, scrape 1/2 a dessert spoon of your cheesy dough mix onto your lined baking tray. Continue to do this until you've used all of the mixture; allowing space for your Gougères to rise.
- Sprinkle each ball with your remaining Comté and place into the oven for 10 minutes.
- Once the 10 minutes is done, reduce your oven temperature to 180C and bake for another 20 minutes - until they are golden brown.
- Voilà! Serve warm and enjoy your gorgeous Gougères!
