Paxton & Whitfield is a renowned cheese shop with a rich history. Established in 1742, we have four shops located in Jermyn Street, Chelsea, Canterbury, and Bath. Each shop offers a wide variety of cheeses and other gourmet products, and we are known for our exceptional customer service and expertise in all things cheese. Our HQ

Paxton & Whitfield's headquarters are located in the Cotswolds having relocated to a larger site in 2021. We have upgraded our cheese facility at the site to support the innovation and the artisan cheese industry, ensuring we can care for the cheese and house the maturation. Our dedicated Quality Manager and team carefully oversee all cheese at our HQ. Before reaching our customers and shops, the cheese is meticulously cared for to maintain its quality. Our site also houses our warehouse and offices, ensuring the seamless operation of Paxton & Whitfield.

Jermyn Street, London

Join Britain’s Oldest Cheesemonger: Paxton & Whitfield has been the country's leading
cheesemonger for over 225 years. Today we continue to deliver exceptional
artisan cheese, fine food, and cheese experiences with unrivalled passion and
expertise across our four UK retail stores.

We are looking for a cheese
enthusiast to join our passionate and knowledgeable Jermyn Street team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to expand their career within the artisan food and/or cheese world.

This is a part-time role for one weekend day per week.
This could either be Saturday 9:30-19:00 or Sunday 10:30 -
17:30, although more shifts may be available on a week-to-week
basis. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide warm, informed and friendly customer service, whilst offering expert cheese recommendations
  • Cut, wrap, weigh, and label cheese to the highest standard
  • Maintain an attractive and well-stocked cheese counter
  • Assist with stock rotation and merchandising responsibilities
  • Support with occasional in-store tastings and events
  • Maintain excellent shop hygiene and presentation standards at all times

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • A genuine interest in cheese and artisan food
  • Previous retail or food service experience (preferred but not essential)
  • Friendly, enthusiastic, and professional manner
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Willingness to learn and follow food hygiene procedures
  • Availability to work weekends and busy seasonal periods

Bourton on the water

We are recruiting now for our busy Christmas season, working
within our historic and innovative business based in our cheese maturation
rooms, and order fulfilment site in Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire.

 The successful applicants will perform a varied number of
Cheesemonger duties, fulfilling our customer’s orders and ensuring our high
quality standards are met at all times.

 The Role

We are looking for enthusiastic staff with great energy, a passion
for food and attention to detail to join us in our cheese maturation rooms for
our peak season. Responsibilities include:

· Cut, wrap and label cheese’s ready for dispatch to our online,
wholesale and corporate customers.

· Learn about cheese, tasting it to ensure that the highest
standard of quality is met.

· Assist in the maturation of cheeses within our cheese maturation
rooms.

· Ensure all products are cared for in a manner consistent with
our food safety and quality procedures.

· Assist in carrying out accurate stock takes.

· Assist in ensuring the cheese rooms are always clean and tidy.

· Ensure food safety procedures and health and safety policies are
always followed.

· Assist the warehouse team when required.

 Full on the job training will be provided.

Start dates available through from 27th October – 1st December.

This role will include weekend work.

Full-time and Part-time roles available.

Previous work in a food environment is environment is desirable,
but not essential. An interest in cheese and a passion for food is essential.

 We are running an exciting incentive: if you
register your interest before 31st October 2025 we will give you a £50 voucher
towards your Christmas cheese upon completion of your last contracted shift.

pack and warehouse duties, fulfilling our customer’s orders and ensuring our
high quality standards are met at all times.

 The Role

We are looking for enthusiastic staff with great energy, a passion
for food and attention to detail to join us for our peak season.
Responsibilities include:

· Accurately pick and pack the wholesale, and web orders, ensuring
the product is always looking superb.

· Assist in the building of hampers for our web orders and
corporate customers.

· Check in incoming goods into our cheese rooms and warehouse
consistent with our food safety, finance and buying controls. Ensuring
paperwork is completed accurately and promptly.

· Ensure all areas of the site are always clean and tidy.

· Ensure all food safety procedures, and health and safety
policies are always followed.

· Build boxes and ensure sufficient stock of packaging is ready to
go for the pick/pack operation.

· Assist the Cheese Room team when required.

 Full on the job training will be provided.

Start dates available through from 27th October – 8th December.

This role will include weekend work.

Full-time and Part-time roles available.

Previous work in a warehouse environment is desirable, but not
essential.

 We are running an exciting incentive: if you
